Contact and Information:
For a copy of this policy, request one from hospital staff or view it in public areas of the hospital.
Summary of the visitor policy:
- Stay Healthy: If you're feeling sick, please don't visit.
- Clean Hands: Wash or sanitize your hands when you come in and when you go in and out of patient rooms.
- Mask Up (Maybe): You might be asked to wear a mask or other gear depending on the patient's situation.
- Kids 12 and Under: Generally, it's best if kids under 12 don't visit unless you talk to the hospital staff first.
- Primary Visitor: Patients can pick one "primary" visitor who can pretty much come and go as they please.
- Other Visitors: For everyone else, visits might be shorter or less frequent, depending on the patient and what the nurse decides is appropriate.
- Highly Contagious Diseases:
- Only one primary visitor allowed per patient.
- Visits should be really limited to essential help (like care or translation) or for kids.
- If you're at high risk for getting really sick (like if you're older or have health issues), it's strongly recommended you don't visit.
- You'll need to wear protective gear (PPE), and don't share it. The nurses will show you how to use it.
- End-of-Life Care: There can be exceptions for visitors of patients in hospice or palliative care, especially for cultural or religious reasons.
- When Visits Can Be Limited/Refused: The hospital can say no to visits if rules are broken, if it gets in the way of care, if the patient doesn't want visitors, or for legal/safety reasons.
